Grade 7- surealist paintings

Grade 7's created Surrealist paintings using watercolours. They created the images by cutting out and arranging objects from magazines onto a magazine background. They then used the grid system to enlarge the image onto A2 paper. The watercolour paint was built up in layers to give a very realistic feel. The compositions are really strange, some dont really make sense, like dreams. All the students were inspired by the Surrealist Artists Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.

Year 8 Story Quilts

Over the last 10 weeks the grade 8's have created class story quilts, inspired by the American Artist Faith Ringgold. Each student produced a square that represented something about themselves using cloth, pastels and fabric dye, they then sewed each peice together to create the patchwork quilt. The results are very colouful and are being displayed in their form rooms around the school.

Elementary Art Club

The Elementary Art club started their 1st project today. They looked at the Artist Henri Rousseau and created their own version of one of his paintings (above). Each leaf shows their blending techniques using oil pastels. I was really impressed with the enthusiasm and talent of each student and look forward to seeing how the project progresses. Well done!

Trash 2 Fash: fashion show night.

The fashion show was a huge success with around $500 raised for charity. The Art club, Dance Club and grade 10s worked incredibly hard on this project over the last few months and I was very pleased with the way they all worked together to put on this event. Well done to all of you! Here are a few pics from the night.
